Harsh Vardhan will take up his position as Chairman of the Stop TB Partnership Board on July 2021 and will have a tenure of three years. The ‘Stop TB Partnership Board’ is an international forum that runs a campaign against TB in collaboration with various parties around the world.
Singapore has announced to build the world’s largest floating solar farm. Singapore is one of the largest per capita carbon dioxide emitters in Asia. It is building the world’s largest floating solar farm to promote renewable energy. The Singapore government is aiming to increase the use of solar energy fourfold by 2025.
Recently, the number of tourists visiting the ‘Statue of Unity’ (so far from inauguration in the year 2018) in Kevadia of Narmada district of Gujarat has exceeded 50 lakhs. The Statue of Unity has been constructed in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sardar Patel is credited for uniting 560 princely states in independent India, hence this statue has been named Statue of Unity.

Recently, the Union Railway Minister has informed that the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir is in the final stages of its construction. This railway bridge being built in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir will be 359 meters high above the river level and 30 meters higher than the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The East African country Kenya has refused to participate in the proceedings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the maritime border dispute with its neighboring country Somalia. There is a dispute between Somalia and Kenya over the delimitation of the maritime boundary in the Indian Ocean. The International Court of Justice was established by the United Nations Charter in the year 1945 and started functioning in April 1946.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a fine of two crore rupees on the country’s largest bank ‘State Bank of India’ ie SBI. This penalty is imposed for violating the Bank Regulation Act. RBI says that SBI has not followed the instructions issued while making payments to bank employees, due to which it has been fined.
The Union Cabinet has given its approval to the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Sports and Youth Affairs between India and Maldives on 16 March 2021. Under the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries in the field of sports and youth affairs, the bilateral exchange program will expand expertise and knowledge with sports science, sports medicine, coaching techniques and participation in youth festivals and camps. As a result, the performance of Indian players in international tournaments will improve. This MoU will also strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
